A bit of brown, a bit of green, spin it around and watch it break down...
Why throw out the good stuff? A well made compost kills off pests and disease but retains the nutrients that would otherwise end up somewhere else and we'd need to replace. There are many different ways to make compost, but for the WCG tumblers are likely to be the fastest, cleanest and easiest way to re-cycle the organics from the garden, plus kitchen scraps from campus.
Some tips:
Break things up - the smaller the better
Don't add weed seeds or bulbs
Spin slowly and frequently
Add water if too dry
Food scraps are welcome - but save the best scraps for the worms
